Year Three
We have currently come to the end of the third and final year of the Sport Unlimited programme, running from April 2010 to March 2011.
With £115,000 of funding awarded to the county from Sport England, we have distributed this money across almost 80 activities around Cornwall - spread evenly throughout the year's three school terms.
To qualify for funding and to be included in the SU programme, each project had to adhere to the following criteria:
• All projects in Year 3 have to run for 10 weeks
• Sessions can be during the holidays but not summer holidays
• Final action plan template to be released mid Oct.
• Each project must show 1) Need 2) Sustainability (exit route)
• Projects must show they are working with partners, more joined up delivery for example NGBs, Youth Club Sector i.e. Youth Service (existing groups)
• Focus on 16 to 19 year olds - can work with School ages Year 7 upwards but no projects should include primary delivery.
• Student voice / consultation i.e. Sports Unlimited Road Show
• How the projects are going to signpost the young people to the activities, think about taking projects to the young peoples environments and use of social media.
• Target semi sporty young people middle 50% - research suggests Fri and Sat evening is when they want the activity
• Retention rate is key for sustainability; target is 60% retention with 80%+ to continue attending each session (How can your project do this?)
