Summer League
The 2009 summer basketball league proved to be a massive success, with five teams participating in weekly fixtures held at Truro College.
In total, 67 players competed throughout the six weeks; with the standard of competition at a high level and many players being scouted for the Men’s National league Cornwall Cougars team.
Wadebridge Storm were the eventual winners of the league after a closely fought final with Penzance; Nick Lawson (Wadebridge Storm) won the finals MVP; and Dom Lily (Penryn Sarcens) won the tournament MVP. All the trophies were sponsored by Equipped4Sport (local sports equipment company).
The league was part of an England Basketball initiative to provide weekly competition for the 16+ age group; due to the success of the league, the format will also be continued for the upcoming CBA winter league.
