School Sport
SCHOOL SPORT PARTNERSHIPS
School Sport Partnerships, based around a Sports College are part of an ongoing initiative by the government to increase the number of young people taking part in Physical Education, school sport and physical activity.
All schools in England are part of a School Sport Partnership and work to 7 nationally agreed outcomes with local variation as needs dictate:
Outcome 1 - increased participation in high quality physical education
Outcome 2 - increased participation in high quality out of school hours learning
Outcome 3 - increased participation in high quality informal activity
Outcome 4 - increased participation in high quality competition and performance
Outcome 5 - improved attitude, behaviour and attendance in pe, sport and whole chool
Outcome 6 - increased attainment and achievement in and through pe, oshl and sport
Outcome 7 – increased participation in community based sport and improved quality of community life.
Our focus areas are changing as from 1st April and there will only be 5
1 High quality PE for all students
2 Opportunities for all young people to participate in a range of high quality activities on a school site
2a Opportunities for all young people to participate in a range of high quality activities in a community environment
3 Provision for young people to undertake high quality leadership and volunteering roles
4 Provision for all young people to develop their potential
5 Leadership and management of the SSP
Although school based the Partnerships are involved in working with health, community groups, the police, local councils and local sports clubs to name but a few.
In Cornwall there are 5 Sports Colleges:
