On 11th February 2011 the UK Government announced the outcomes of its review of the vetting and barring scheme (VBS), the first phase of Sunita Mason's review of the criminal records regime, and the Protection of Freedoms Bill. Together, these set out the Government's intentions for reforming vetting and criminal records arrangements for people working with children and vulnerable adults whether in a paid or unpaid capacity.
