Tough times can be good times in Newquay with the Cornwall Corporate Games

Cornwall Corporate Games 2009

In just three months Newquay will resume its title as Corporate Sport capital of Cornwall as it sees the return of the happiest multi sport festival for companies, institutions and organisations of every type and size.

Billed as the ultimate blend of sport, business and tourism, the Cornwall Corporate Games leads the country in its celebration of team building, corporate responsibility, health in the workplace and great team morale at a time when businesses everywhere need it the most.

Despite the crowd of companies who are experiencing the cold grip of recession, many teams have already entered into the weekend competition – and with investment in employer confidence high on the business agenda in many offices and workplaces, it is little surprise that the Corporate Games has become such a popular event

Tiny or tremendous, every business, organisation or institution can enter one participant or several into the Corporate Games – the sporting competition for the everyday athlete.  There are no restrictions on entry and friends, family and clients can be included in the team.

Mike Thomas, Strategic Director for Cornwall Sports Partnership confirmed: “Sport has an important role to play in creating a healthy and pro-active workforce. We would encourage all employers to consider including sport into healthy workplace initiatives for their staff. Innovative projects such as these can help to make sport a key part of everyday life for more people."

Everyone and anyone who can swing a golf club, hit a table tennis ball or fancies rowing a gig boat should not miss this once in a lifetime chance to be part of sports history in Newquay.  Whether you’re a restaurateur, shopkeeper, hairdresser, taxi driver, in the police, fire or ambulance service, a council worker, or simply a member of a local sports or community club – everyone is eligible to enter.

“Nowhere else is there the range of sports, activities, contacts and fun in a single weekend than in the Games”, Participation Manager Amanda Body reported in Truro today.

We really want as many small to medium-sized companies to enter from the top of Cornwall right down to the bottom too.  We have special Championship Divisions based on number of entries created to ensure that no matter the size of the team there is a great chance for every one of to win one of the  prestigious sports awards of the Games and also take home a medal or two.”

Tough times are the best of times to build that essential company spirit and teambuilding that are so essential to survival and ultimate success.  The Games will bring everyone together at little cost and with real benefits for all.

It is very easy to enter the Games and there is still plenty of time as entries are open until the middle of August.  Visit the website at www.corporate-games.com to download an entry form, or call the participation office on 01733 380 888 for a presentation, information or materials.
