Truro Fencing Club wins at British Sabre Championships
Truro Fencing Club's performance athletes dominated proceedings at the British Senior Fencing Championships in Sheffield this weekend.
The club's outstanding results at the event are as follows:
Men's Sabre Individual Event
Chris Buxton - Gold Medal
Jon Salfield - 5th
Al Jupp - 10th
Women's Sabre Individual Event
Louise Bond-Williams - Gold Medal
Katie Hendra - 5th
Maxine McCombie - 8th
Sophie Williams 10th
Men's Sabre Team Event
Truro Fencing Club 'A' (Salfield, Buxton, Jupp, Walker) - Gold Medal
Women's Sabre Team Event
Truro Fencing Club 'A' (Bond-Williams, Hendra, McCombie, McWilliams) - Silver Medal
Other results to note:
Cornish fencer Hannah Bryars, fencing for Sussex House, took Bronze in the Women's Individual Foil.
14-year-old Noah Rogerson made the top 32 in a field of over 100 senior fencers.
15-year-old Alice Maidwell-Smith made the top 32 in the women's event, only losing 15-14 to the British Senior number 14.
