South West Cash 4 Clubs Winners Announced

Cash 4 Clubs

Five local community sports clubs benefit from Betfair’s £5,000 Big Cash Giveaway

Betfair has announced the five clubs that it will lend a helping hand to in the South West region. The nationwide Cash 4 Clubs scheme has been set up to give a vital cash boost to sports clubs, and the following clubs were chosen as the lucky recipients, each receiving a £1000 cash prize;

Liskeard and Looe RFC Mini-Juniors who will be using the money to increase safety standards through coaching and first aid courses and equipment
Cornwood Cricket Club who will be developing their girls team
Roseland Gig Club will be purchasing lifejackets, radio equipment and a set of paddles for their junior members
Exeter Gymnastics Club who are in desperate need of funds to replace flooring in the gym
Isca Hockey Club who will be using their cash to achieve their Clubs First accreditation

The Cash 4 Clubs competition ran in partnership with the Western Morning News during September and October in the South West and readers were tasked with collecting tokens from the newspaper and then completing an application form stating why their sports club deserved to be awarded a £1,000 cash prize.

Many deserving clubs entered the competition but the judging panel, which comprised of Sports Editor Matt Stevens, Betfair CSR Executive Georgie Corbett and County Sport Partners Representatives from Devon and Cornwall, felt that the above five clubs were the deserving winners.

Two entries that just missed out on winning the £1000 award but deserve special recognition were Roche Youth FC and Exeter Canoe Club.  Both clubs had a very real need and we wish them every success in finding the money they need to make their plans happen.

Georgina Corbett, Corporate Social Responsibility Executive at Betfair said;“It was a very difficult decision to make as we had so many worthy applications but the judges and I felt that the five clubs we picked really stood out and would benefit the most from the cash prize and I would like to offer them my congratulations. I’m looking forward to meeting all the winners over the next month and seeing how they’ve used the funds to help develop their club and local community.”

Clubs that were unsuccessful or did not enter the competition can still benefit from Betfair’s Cash 4 Clubs scheme. By registering online with Betfair’s Refer & Earn programme, members can earn £20 for their club each time they place a bet. Visit www.cash-4-clubs.com to find out more.

So far 20 clubs have benefited from the Cash 4 Clubs scheme and £20,000 has been given away. Betfair is continuing its Cash 4 Clubs activity around the UK with sports clubs in Warwickshire, Hertfordshire and Cambridgeshire next to benefit from the £5,000 Big Cash Giveaway.
