Lottie makes England squad
Cornish youngster Lottie Richardson has made it through to the England Under 17 Netball squad after being selected at the final trials session at Loughborough yesterday (Sun March 15th).
Lottie, who plays for St Austell, had a gruelling day of skills and match play under the guidance of the Head National Coach, Sue Hawkins. The best Under 17 players from all the Talent & Performance centres were involved and Lottie impressed the viewing audience with her match play. As she grew in confidence she wowed the crowd when she saved the ball from going off the sideline, turned in the air and fed a pinpoint pass to the shooter under the post!
Lottie has been in the Cornwall Development programme since she was 11 and her coach, Jean Davies, feels she deserves her chance at national level. “She is a talented athlete who has finally decided on netball as her main sport,” she said. “Selection for the U17’s is a deserved reward for the all the work she does in developing her skills, match play and fitness.”
Lottie, who is also the youngest member of the Team Bath U19 Talent League Squad, will join the rest of the successful athletes at their first team camp in Loughborough over the Easter Holidays.
She now faces some hard work to get selected for the U17 squad to play in the European Championships next February.
