Funding advice to clubs

CSP holds another successful Funding Workshop. 

Cornwall Sports Partnership organised a generic funding workshop for sports clubs and organisations in Cornwall. The event in Truro was designed to provide advice and support to assist with accessing funding.

The evening was well attended with 18 people from 10 different clubs and organisations.  There were a variety of projects looking for funding including - new changing facilities, clothing, equipment and starting junior/female groups.

The tutor, Neil Parsley from the South West Funding Advice Network, shared his wealth of knowledge in fundraising over the last 10 years.  His advice included tips for effective fundraising and tips for obtaining support from businesses. 

Alison Mitchelmore from Inter-Link Cornwall and the Cornwall Centre for Volunteers unfortunately could not deliver her presentation due to illness.  However her presentation was still given and provided further advice and contacts of local funders in Cornwall.

During the final part of the evening people attending were able to discuss their individual project with the tutor in a funding surgery.

Each attendee went away with an information pack, ideas and suggestions for how to take their project forward.  Following the success of this event, more workshops are planned to be held on a 6 monthly basis around the county.
