Cornwall's granted further 'Our Money, your Dream' funding

The Department for Children, Schools and Families has announced that Cornwall is to receive an additional £176,000 from the Youth Opportunity and Youth Capital Funds which is fantastic news for the county.

Branded Our Money Your Dream in Cornwall, young people have already successfully committed over £400,000 to young people’s projects throughout the county this year ranging from creating and refurbishing youth provision to supporting a fashion show for young people who’ve been in the care system to setting up Youth Radio Stations plus many, many more.

Due to this good news we are now extending the closing date for applications to Wednesday, 31st January 2009 and we are asking everyone to let as many young people know about this very exciting fund.

Our Money Your Dream is all about young people; right from the creation of the idea until the decision is made. Young People are asked to come up with their ideas of a project / activity they’d like to apply for and then submit it to their local district panel. A group of young people, also 13 – 19, will then consider the application alongside others that have been submitted against very simple criteria:

• It must benefit young people aged 13 - 19
• It must be safe and legal to do!
• It needs to show how it will benefit others in the community
