Cornwall Netball funding success!

Cornwall Netball funding success

Cornwall Netball volunteers Pauline Kinder, Ali Shipwright and the Netball Development Officer for Cornwall, Natasha Howard, have put together a Funding plan for 2008/9 season that includes applying for funding and attracting new sponsors.  This has resulted in successfully applying for £13,000 from a variety of funders and the following programmes are being established:

Cornwall Netball Junior League has received £1,000 from new sponsor World’s Apart and successfully applied for £900 of funding from Cornwall Community Foundation Grassroots
Grants program.  The World’s Apart sponsorship has been Sportsmatched to £2,000.

Cornwall Netball Youth Leadership Program has been established to identify young talented umpires and coaches.  The young people aged 13 – 15 years will access Umpiring courses, Young Netball Organiser courses and Coaching workshops.  The Umpiring program will lead to the establishment of the Cornwall Talented Young Umpire Program which will then feed into the Netball South West Program.  £1,380 was successfully applied for from England Netball Youth Trust.

Developing Volunteers is the theme of an Awards for All application that has been successfully applied for.  Funding will be used for coaching, umpiring, first aid and safeguarding children courses.  Together with provision of mentoring opportunities and CRB checks. £8,750 has been received.  Netball club volunteers can potentially benefit from this funding by accessing support to attend further training to fulfil their roles.
