Cornwall Corporate Games 2009 is postponed
Due to an unfortunate reduction of entrants, event organisers Sport for Life have made the tough decision to postpone the 2009 Cornwall Corporate Games it was announced yesterday.
The event was to be the second Corporate Games to take place in Newquay, following the success of its launch in 2008. It was due to be held on 18 and 19 September and should have seen hundreds of participants from companies and businesses across Cornwall compete in various sports events.
A spokesman from Sport for Life said: “Having been monitoring entrants closely this year, we are just short of the requisite numbers to make the Games an enjoyable experience for everyone. Therefore, we had to make the difficult decision to postpone the 2009 Cornwall Corporate Games.
“Understandably, it has been a tough year for many companies and organisations which has made recruitment of participants difficult. That said however, we are determined to press ahead with the event next year in a slightly reformed way”.
Mike Thomas, Strategic Director at the Cornwall Sports Partnership, who commissioned the Games, said: “It is disappointing to hear that the 2009 Cornwall Corporate Games have had to be postponed. We will be discussing with the operating company, Sport for Life, how they intend to take the event forward and hope that a more prosperous 2010 will see the event succeed next year.”
