2009 Cornwall Sports Awards - nominations now open!
The Cornwall Sports Partnership is now inviting nominations for the 2009 Cornwall Sports Awards which will be staged at the Esplanade Hotel in Newquay on Friday November 13.
This prestigious event, staged for the first time in 2006, has been designed by the Sports Partnership to recognise and honour the contributions made by dedicated sports coaches, officials, clubs, volunteers and young leaders from across the county.
The three categories incorporate 12 separate Awards; including Club of the Year, Coach of the Year and Lifetime Services to Sport.
This year’s ceremony has been designed to build on the success of last year’s event. Natasha Howard, Club Development Officer at the Cornwall Sports Partnership, explains: “This event is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the successes of sports clubs, coaches and volunteers throughout the county.
“Anyone can make a nomination, with no limit to the number of nominations that can be made by an organisation or an individual, although clubs or individuals must be based in Cornwall”.
Again this year, there will be the opportunity to vote for your club by text – the list of contenders will be shortlisted by the Cornwall Sports Partnership from the nominations they receive and published in the West Briton/Guardian/Cornishman on 3/4 September.
