Leadership & Volunteering

Cornwall Volunteering & Leadership

Over recent years we have been building relationships across the county in order to provide opportunities that extend beyond those currently available solely to school based young people. Partnership between CSP and Sports Leaders UK has encouraged the development of opportunities for more young people and adults to get involved in sports leadership and volunteering, by implementing the following:

  • Developing the Sports Leaders UK Awards
  • Encouraging more External Agencies to adopt leadership awards within existing programmes
  • Increasing the number of young people gaining Leadership qualifications
  • Providing training opportunities to External Agencies to become Accredited Centres
  • Working closely with Sports Leaders UK to develop in line with other areas of the Delivery Plan a ‘Local Centre of Sports Leadership’
  • Identifying how Community Leadership Academies could also act as ‘Local Centre of Sports Leadership’.

Over the past months we’ve written a new Delivery Plan for leadership to encompass future developments in both the community and education. This plan highlights cross-project working with:

Youth Cornwall
School Sports Partnerships
Playing for Success Learning Zones
vinvolved
Youth Sport Trust: Step into Sport

We have also recently been awarded status as a Sports Leaders UK Local Centre of Community Sports Leadership.
