CSSN Terms of Reference
Purpose of the Group:
Coaching for Cornwall will work collaboratively in support of the National Governing Bodies of Sport to meet the needs of sports coaches and coaching across Cornwall.
Key Principles:
- We believe in a coach centered approach
- We support the UK Coaching Framework Vision “to create a cohesive, ethical, inclusive and valued coaching system where skilled coaches support children, players and athletes at all stages of their development in sport and is number one in the world by 2016”
- We support the Sport England focus around Grow, Sustain, Excel
- We want coaching to be viewed as a profession and will adhere to a set of minimum standards of deployment for coaches
- Our success is based on our impact on the ground
- Our membership will reflect the sectors in which they work and will be expected to cascade information throughout their sector
Priorities for Success:
- Maximising communications between all partners in the interest of coaching
- Engagement with and through National Governing Bodies of Sport
- Commitment to critical self-reflection to ensure Coaching for Cornwall is continuously improving
Responsibilities:
- Development of mechanism for establishing ‘need’ throughout Cornwall
- Promotion of coaching
- Adoption Minimum Standards for Deployment
- Development (Education and Training)
- Deployment (Employment)
- Coach Management support
- Monitoring and Evaluation
Functions and Operations:
- The group will have a strategic, advocacy, advisory and delivery remit
- The group will act as a steering group for coaching related investment projects
- The group will have a rolling Chair who will be selected annually
- Members of the group will act as the secretariat
- The group will meet as required - a minimum of 4 times per year
- The group will establish a mechanism to ensure meetings run in line with other key regional meetings
