The benefits of a structured CSSN

 

Purpose of the Group:

Coaching for Cornwall will work collaboratively in support of the National Governing Bodies of Sport to meet the needs of sports coaches and coaching across Cornwall.
   

Key Principles: 

  1. We believe in a coach centered approach
  2. We support the UK Coaching Framework Vision “to create a cohesive, ethical, inclusive and valued coaching system where skilled coaches support children, players and athletes at all stages of their development in sport and is number one in the world by 2016”
  3. We support the Sport England focus around Grow, Sustain, Excel
  4. We want coaching to be viewed as a profession and will adhere to a set of minimum standards of deployment for coaches
  5. Our success is based on our impact on the ground
  6. Our membership will reflect the sectors in which they work and will be expected to cascade information throughout their sector

Priorities for Success:

  1. Maximising communications between all partners in the interest of coaching
  2. Engagement with and through National Governing Bodies of Sport
  3. Commitment to critical self-reflection to ensure Coaching for Cornwall is continuously improving

Responsibilities:

  1. Development of mechanism for establishing ‘need’ throughout Cornwall
  2. Promotion of coaching
  3. Adoption Minimum Standards for Deployment
  4. Development (Education and Training)
  5. Deployment (Employment)
  6. Coach Management support
  7. Monitoring and Evaluation

Functions and Operations:

  1. The group will have a strategic, advocacy, advisory and delivery remit
  2. The group will act as a steering group for coaching related investment projects 
  3. The group will have a rolling Chair who will be selected annually
  4. Members of the group will act as the secretariat
  5. The group will meet as required - a minimum of 4 times per year
  6. The group will establish a mechanism to ensure meetings run in line with other key regional meetings
