Cornwall Playground to Podium Swimming Event

As part Playground to Podium, the ASA will be holding a multi-purpose disability swimming event. The event will combine demonstration ability days, skill development sessions and the Playground to Podium County Athlete Assessment Day.
The objectives of the event are to:
- Provide swimming opportunities for all levels of ability
- Demonstrate how to assess ability for future events
- Identify talent through the County Athlete Assessment Day
This event will be suitable for:
- Any swimmer in KS2 or 3 with disability
- Any officer or staff member who is involved in the P2P Programme
The day is being divided into two halves to allow schools with a further distance to travel the opportunity to attend later in the day.
There will also be a theory based information session, designed to support any swimming instructor or P2P officer responsible for delivering future ability days.
Swimmers of all abilities may attend. Swimmers who have already been identified as having a higher ability will take part in the CAAD section of the sessions. All other swimmers will take part in the skill development session.
Please consider that for Playground to Podium there is 70%/30% split, which means 70% of participants should have a physical or sensory disability, and 30% with an intellectual disability. Although Swimmers of any disability may attend the skill development session, the emphasis is on physical disabilities and the CAAD section of each session will strictly remain within the 70%/30% criteria.
The schedule of the event is as followed:
AM SESSION 1
10:00- Arrive: registration / introduction
10:30 -11:30 – Pool
- Skill development session / Demonstration of ability assessments
- CAAD
11:30-11:45 – Changing time
11:45-12:30 – Lunch for swimmers / Information session
PM SESSION 2
1:30 – Arrive: registration / information session
2:30 – 3:30 – Pool
- Skill development session / Demonstration of ability assessment
- CAAD
3:30-3:45 – Changing and departure
