Course Overview
This course is ideal for qualified massage therapists who need to increase the breadth of massage treatments they wish to offer their clients and customers. It will enable current practitioners to develop the necessary knowledge and practical skills for the effective application of advanced massage treatments such as remedial deep tissue massage and lymphatic drainage.

Course Content
This course is a 20 credit module at Level 4 accredited by the University of Plymouth. 

Topics include:

  • Neuromuscular technique, Trigger Points, Muscle energy Technique, acupressure and deep tissue massage 
  • Physical assessment techniques
  • Postural analysis
  • Theory of muscle tension and common injuries that can be relieved with deep tissue massage and other techniques
  • Lymphatic drainage techniques
  • How massage can be used to treat on both a physical and psychological level
  • Health and safety relevant to the techniques covered
  • Industry codes of practice and ethics

Assessment Method: 100% coursework which will include reports, case studies, professional discussion and observation of practical skills.This course requires self-study outside scheduled lectures.

Course Cost: £250

Funding Available
If you are employed within a private sector business and do not already have a similar qualification at this level it is likely that due to current funding you will only have to pay half price. If you are un-employed and do not have a similar qualification at this level then you may be able to study this course free of charge.   Limited funding is also available towards travel and childcare.

What can I do next?
You could study another single topic Success course or it may be possible to progress onto the Foundation degree in Salon and Spa Management.

** You must hold an appropriate Level 3 qualification to enrol on this course. e.g.  NVQ level 3 in Beauty Therapy, or a level 3 Swedish/body massage qualification
