Coach Development
In partnership with Sport England and Sports Coach UK, we work to develop coaching in Cornwall by achieving eight key objectives:
- Support an increase in the number of qualified coaches within your CSP, based on the workforce development needs of National Governing Bodies
- Develop a local solution by which coaching data can be managed and coaches can be tracked to provide local intelligence reports fed back into NGBs or Sport England.
- Increase the number of NGB active coaches accessing needs led continuous 'professional' development opportunities in line with NGB Plans and Sport England's objective of increasing participation and developing talent
- To facilitate the establishment of a Support Network for coaches within your CSP and provide a community of learning
- Identify and promote funding schemes/grants that will aid local coaches in obtaining CPD opportunities at a reduced cost
- Create a pathway into entry level coaching opportunities and CPD
- Support coaches seeking to increase their coaching hrs by promoting the availability of local coaching opportunities within Cornwall
- Provide employment and deployment guidance to coaching providers operating within the CSP
Working with a number of partners, we ensure that not only do we have the right number of coaches to support sport in our area, but that these coaches are professionally managed, suitably qualified, sufficiently competent and appropriately rewarded.
The key factor in the success of any sports programme is having the right coach who can engage participants and use this relationship and contact time to guide the player development. To help us do this we have developed an online coach database - Get Coaching Cornwall. Through this functionality we can deploy the right coaches for the correct environments.
