Club Development
Clubmark
The aim of Clubmark is to help sports clubs to develop to be the best they can be! It also ensures that young people reach their full potential, and to give parents the knowledge and confidence that their children are attending a safe and good quality club.
The Club Accreditation scheme provides a set of standard criteria which allows clubs to evaluate their own development. It also helps with developing not only their infrastructure but also other areas such as volunteering, membership and recruitment.
Clubs are assessed against 4 areas:
- Duty of Care and Child Protection
- Playing Programme
- Sports Equity and Ethics
- Club Management
Clubmark not only helps clubs to develop, but also enables participants, players parents, local authorities and schools to assess how good a club is by looking for the accreditation logo.
How to become involved in Clubmark
Clubs need to register with their individual sport National Governing Body accreditation scheme. Each sport uses different methods to measure whether their clubs have reached the agreed standards. Upon reaching these standards, clubs will be awarded their NGB club accreditation mark as well as the cross-sport 'Clubmark’.
Club Achievement Award
In Cornwall all 6 of the District Authorities are launching a scheme which sits below Clubmark during 2005/6. This scheme is aimed at clubs and organisations which are unlikely to achieve Clubmark or their NGB accreditation scheme.
Please note this scheme is only applicable to Cornwall and is not recognised nationally, clubs should therefore be aware if they apply for any national funding they will not have achieved a recognised accreditation award.
For further information on this scheme, please contact your local authority Sports Development Officer.
