Salary: Grade 5 from £30,000 per annum plus company car and contributory pension scheme

Job Description:
This is the most exciting time there has ever been to work in the Olympic sport of badminton. BADMINTON England has a clear focus on becoming the World Number 1 Badminton nation by 2016 and on Growing the Game in England.

In the build up to the 2012 London Olympic Games BADMINTON England will:

  • Increase the number of regular adult participants to over 600,000
  • Create better opportunities for talented young players
  • Stage European and World Championships
  • Develop medal winning athletes

BADMINTON England's regional teams are crucial to the delivery of BADMINTON England's strategic objectives set out in the 2009-13 plan. As Regional Manager you will lead and manage a team of Regional Officers and manage the business of badminton in the region. You will ensure that the team are appropriately skilled, motivated and appraised, whilst ensuring that badminton maintains its profile.

BADMINTON England is seeking to recruit a highly motivated person to lead the South West regional team. Key responsibilities include:

  • Lead the Regional Team to deliver BADMINTON England's strategic aims
  • Lead the delivery of Community Badminton Networks as specified in the regional plan to ensure increased participation for adults and juniors
  • Lead the delivery of Performance Centres as specified in the regional plan to ensure effective player pathways in the counties
  • Engage with key volunteers and partner organisations at local and regional level
  • Undertake a national remit

  • Strong leadership skills that will enable the team to deliver excellent results
  • The ability to form partnerships and to influence decision-makers within the badminton environment and the wider sports development sector
  • The ability to manage a range of tasks and projects concurrently to deliver against organisational objectives
  • An understanding of the needs of sports participants and the people who deliver sport
