Fixed Term Contract until 31.8.11.  To commence 1.4.10

Salary Grade 9 (£30,851 – £34,549 p.a.)  

Contract will be extended for a further 3 years if grant funding is continued

We are seeking to appoint a committed physical education and sport enthusiast with a teaching or coaching background as the Partnership Development Manager for the Sedgemoor and Mendip School Sport Partnership.

This is a unique and exciting career opportunity for a dedicated and motivated sports professional. The post holder will have a key role in supporting schools to meet the Government’s public service agreement target of ensuring that all young people are offered at least 5 hours per week of high quality PE and sport. The role is also instrumental in enabling and encouraging schools to use PE and sport as a vehicle for raising standards and achievement across the whole school.

The PDM will be based at King Alfred School and Sports College and will spend their time managing a partnership of 11 Secondary schools, 2 Middle Schools and their associated feeder Primary, First and Infant schools along with 2 Special Schools and a PRU. The post holder will also facilitate links with key strategic partners including the LA, LDA, County Sports Partnership, Local Authority sports development and NGBs of sport.

Applications are sought from subject specialists with a real commitment to developing curricular, out of school hours and community-based learning opportunities for young people. The successful candidate will have a sound knowledge of physical education and school sport in primary, special and secondary schools; will have excellent leadership and communication skills; will understand the concept of learning through PE and sport; and will have proven experience of project or programme management. The candidate should also demonstrate a commitment to inclusion of all young people.
