National Trust (The Lizard & Penrose) - Active Outdoors Development Officer
National Trust place
The Lizard & Penrose, Cornwall TR12 6DE
Closing Date: 18th October 2018
We are looking for an Active Outdoors Development Officer to deliver the 2019 South West Outdoors Festival, and to also develop and deliver a range of outdoor activities and sports at Penrose and the Lizard.
If you have experience of delivering amazing and inspirational engagement activities in the outdoors, have great project management skills, and have a flexible customer focussed approach then we would love to hear from you.
What it's like to work here
The Lizard & Penrose is principally a countryside property featuring dramatic coastline, woodlands and farmland, busy and beautiful beaches, unique wildlife and a host of buildings from cliff top cottages to historic mansions.
A dedicated team of staff and volunteers look after the special places in our care. With 1800 hectares of land including National Nature Reserves and Sites of Special Scientific Interest and 30 residential cottages, 15 holiday cottages, a campsite, a bunkhouse, public toilets, cafes and busy car parks and over 50 other buildings in our care, we're a busy place to work, with lots going on.
The Lizard & Penrose team holds a strong emphasis on partnership working. With the help of a dedicated team of volunteers, we work together with other organisations, local communities and farm tenants to help look after the special places in our care. We are committed to the Trust's vision of looking after what we have got really well, of restoring a healthy and beautiful natural environment and inspiring people with great experiences so that we grow ever more support.
What you'll be doing
You'll be responsible for the strategic development, management and support of the Active Outdoors programme for the property. You'll feed into the national team of Active Outdoors Development Officers as part of the National Trust and Sport England partnership which seeks to develop opportunities for people to be active at National Trust sites.
The role will, where appropriate, lead the development of new outdoor activity products and experiences with partners and then ensure they are embedded into the business - this may include; recruiting volunteers, creating web / media content, engaging with local communities and with sports organisations, developing income streams and co-ordinating the properties sporting activities programme. You'll also be providing a consistent approach to licensing of 3rd party events, managing existing relationships (ParkRun) and dealing with new enquiries regarding events on NT land and monitoring events - all through close working with local Ranger teams and the Estate Manager.
Building on the above, a significant part of the role will be to project manage the development and delivery of the 2019 South West Outdoors Festival to be held at Penrose in September 2019 involving partners, other staff and volunteers.
