This is the most exciting time there has ever been to work in the Olympic sport of badminton. In the build up to the 2012 London Olympic Games BADMINTON England will:
- Increase the number of regular adult participants to over 600,000
- Create better opportunities for talented young players
- Stage European and World Championships
- Develop medal winning athletes
BADMINTON England has recently received a significant increase in funding from Sport England to achieve these challenging targets. In order to increase the number of adult participants and create opportunities for talented young players, BADMINTON England will be developing Community Badminton Networks across the country. To achieve this we are building a team of high performing Regional Officers.
The Regional Officers will lead the delivery of Community Badminton Networks working with key partners from clubs, county badminton associations, local authorities and education. Their responsibilities will be:
- to deliver Community Badminton Networks within an agreed geographical area
- to be the key contact for County Badminton Associations
- to deliver key BADMINTON England programmes across an agreed area
- to be the regional lead in one of the following areas: Training and Education / Clubs and Schools / Competition and Events / 16-18 Retention
We are looking for talented individuals with drive, passion, determination and a genuine desire to make a true difference to our sport. Post holders will be expected to have a good working knowledge of sports development, good communication, influencing, leadership and problem solving skills, together with the ability to form strong partnerships to enable project delivery.
