Equality

Cornwall Sports Partnership is currently working towards the Sport England Equality Standard for Sport.

The Equality Standard is being used as a tool by the Partnership to develop its organisation and its services, so that participation in sport is offered to the widest possible audience in Cornwall. We recognise that barriers exist which can exclude sections of the population from participating in sports and activity.

As a Partnership we would like to remove as many of the these barriers which may still exist and promote inclusion for all regardless of age, gender, ethinic origin, disability, socio economic status, religious beliefs and sexual orientation on participation in sport.

We are gathering evidence to support our application for the Foundation Award.

A summary of the Standard can be viewed at http://www.sportengland.org/the_equality_standard_summary.pdf. We also have a policy in place specifically for sport in Cornwall. While the Partnership maintains a register of Coaches in the County, it also ensures that these Coaches have specific Equity training. A number of meetings and consultations have taken place already within the Partnership and this has prompted the production of a leaflet for sports clubs and organisations to raise awareness of Equity issues around sport. This includes resources and contacts for further training and information and can be downloaded here.
