Equality

Cornwall Sports Partnership is currently working towards the Sport England Equality Standard for Sport, and is currently gathering evidence to support an application for the Foundation Award.

We recognise that barriers exist which can unfortunately exclude sections of the population from participating in sports and activity; we are therefore using the Equality Standard to develop our organisation and services so that participation in sport is offered to the widest possible audience in Cornwall.

As a Partnership we would like to remove as many existing barriers as possible and to promote inclusion in sport for all; regardless of age, gender, ethinic origin, disability, socio-economic status, religious beliefs and sexual orientation.

Whilst maintaining a register of coaches in the county, we ensure that all our coaches have specific Equality training. A number of meetings and consultations have taken place within the Partnership and we have subsequently produced a leaflet, for sports clubs and organisations, to raise awareness of Equality issues around sport. This includes resources and contacts for further training and information, and can be downloaded here.
